Stage 3: Providing Means to Succeed
The current stage of CRT’s work involves the translation of the research from the Regional Visioning project and the input gathered from citizens into practical advice to guide our communities towards the ideal vision for this region.  Since 2004, CRT has been producing a Toolbox that will educate communities on how to change growth practices so that they can be more efficient in the use of their resources.

The Toolbox, scheduled to be finished in August 2006, will be followed by a training initiative throughout the region.  Partnerships are being established to reach influential groups including local officials, planners, and other key leaders.  Complete training sessions will be 4-6 hours and led by a facilitator, a design professional, and a planning professional.

CRT is also working with partners around the region to increase collaboration so that quality growth practices can be implemented.  One current project is the Region Clinic for Collaboration that is being organized by CRT and conducted by the Lincoln Land Institute for Land Policy.  The purpose of the clinic is to bring together leaders from around the region to concur on a process to develop a regional land use and transportation plan.  CRT is partnered with Leadership Middle Tennessee, the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, and the MTSU Chair of Regional Planning to coordinate this clinic.  Representatives of the Lincoln Land Institute from the University of Montana interviewed over 30 individuals from this region to prepare a report that will guide discussion during the clinic.
