NASHVILLE, TN. – At a Feb. 4th meeting of the Middle Tennessee Mayors Caucus, the newly-elected MPO Board Chair, Mayor Karl Dean of Nashville, will announce details of a critical period in 2010 for public and municipal involvement in multi-billion dollar transportation investments for the region.

The Nashville Area MPO is completing work on the Northeast Mobility Study and needs your input at upcoming Community Workshops to Discuss Mass Transit Options for this important regional corridor.    If you have every had a desire to see bus rapid transit, light rail transit, or commuter rail service in this part of the region, or if you simply are just interested in helping this region develop a strategy to implement rapid mass transit, this is your opportunity to get involved.

WASHINGTON (October 6, 2009) – The Urban Land Institute (ULI) Daniel Rose Center for Public Leadership in Land Use has named 16 outstanding community leaders -- including the mayors of Minneapolis, Nashville, Philadelphia and Phoenix -- to serve in fellowships for the Center through 2010.

Nashville, TN  -  Approximately 4,000 pedestrians and bicyclists were observed at 23 Middle Tennessee locations during an unannounced count on Tuesday, September 8, coordinated by the Nashville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).  Twenty-five percent of the people counted by trained volunteers were on greenways; the others were walking and bicycling on sidewalks and streets.

Congress has approved $8 billion for high-speed-rail lines that, according to advocates, will make traveling by train faster than driving. But for high-speed trains to live up to their potential, planners also have to consider how long it takes to get to your destination after you get off the train.
