Cumberland Region Tomorrow Celebrates our 10 Year Anniversary in 2010!

Cumberland Region Tomorrow was formed in 2000 by regional leaders and Vanderbilt University with the mission to help our ten county region grow in a sustainable manner and prosper by keeping our livability and economic vitality. Since that time CRT has formed many successful partnerships and had many successes. We look forward to building on these in the next decade. Click here to review our accomplishments.

We are glad to celebrate ten years of great work and relationships and continue our work toward our Mission:

Cumberland Region Tomorrow is a private, non-profit, citizen-based regional organization working with public and private partners, dedicated to planning for the future livability and economic vitality of our ten-county region. In our work we support and encourage growth planning, with emphasis on land use, transportation, and preservation of the rural landscape and character of the region's communities.

In our work, Cumberland Region Tomorrow strives toward these Objectives:

Continue the regional discussion of quality growth
Report on growth trend data
Lead the process to develop tools and resources necessary to implement quality growth practices
Encourage collaborative action
Recognize and reward successful examples of quality growth projects throughout the region

In 2010 and the next decade, we will continue to work to advance our region in our efforts toward successful Regionalism by Convening the Region and Regional Communications under the Power of Ten brand and Quality Growth and Sustainable Development through our Quality Growth Toolbox education, tools and technical assistance efforts.

We will continue be work collaboratively with our key partners and continue focus on the following Top Regional Issues and Opportunities:

Regional Transportation/Transit
Regional Land Use/Quality Growth and Sustainable Development
Regional Infrastructure
Regional Open Space Conservation
Regional Air and Water Quantity and Quality
Regional Economic Competitiveness

In our work, Cumberland Region Tomorrow brings people together to address regional challenges and opportunities we face with the future growth and development of Middle Tennessee. Our mission is to foster communication, collaboration and action as we help plan for the long-term livability, economic vitality and sustainability of this place we call home.

CRT Quality Growth Toolbox Results and Tools are Out! The CRT Quality Growth Toolbox and Regional Pilot Project work has significantly advanced the region on the key regional issue of Land Use/Quality Growth and Sustainable Development. The Toolbox project offers resources and training to local communities throughout the region on the importance of comprehensive planning, community design, integrated land use and transportation planning, and incentives to support the implementation of Quality Growth in our region. GIS Greenprint Tools for Quality Growth released in January 2010! CRT and lead partner Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, are providing our region with the first consolidated GIS information designed to advance our region’s key issues of Open Space Conservation and Land Use/Quality Growth and Sustainable Development. Included as a key regional strategy in the Conserving Our Region's Land, Water, Cultural and Natural Resources Chapter of the CRT Quality Growth Toolbox, this web-based GIS mapping tool is intended to provide a better basis for decision making as projected impacts and costs of land use and transportation decisions are being made and land conservation priorities are included in local and regional plans.
